A photo diary of the things we love about living by the sea, when home in the UK in stunning Sussex!
We love how far the tide goes out … such a free and inspiring expanse of shoreline, dramatic sweeping curved horizon, calm and gentle waves rolling in, space to breathe!
With only a few piers left standing around the country we love the views from both above and below of our local one! At any time of year it is exhilarating to walk to the end of the pier with the wind in your hair, standing above the waves, seagulls circling above.
Or when the tide is out venturing underneath and taking in the shapes, shadows and reflections along with the beauty of the seaweed and old fisherman’s ropes that have wound and embedded themselves, over time, around the structure!
The traditional beach huts that stand to attention in perfect rows along many stretches of this coastline are always intriguing! In winter they are lost, lonely empty looking places but come Spring they awake from hibernation as their owners paint, refresh and ready them for the Summer!
And what a transformation as when the weather is good (a bit hit & miss in the UK it has to be said) they become hives of activity, important social hubs, BBQ heavens and full to the brim of summery paraphernalia – a real British tradition that we enjoy to observe!
And we can never tire of beautiful sunsets and we really do have some incredible ones in this part of the world. The promenade and shoreline are just as beautiful of an evening to walk, cycle or hang out on, as it is by day … so when we are in the UK we feel very lucky to call it home!
