Paros – is picture perfect!

Paros – is picture perfect!

As soon as we stepped off the ferry we loved Paros! Who knows exactly why but it immediately felt familiar, friendly, vibrant and a happy place to be – where you just can’t wait to get out and explore!

And that is where the fun really started as we decided we didn’t really want an air conditioned car – we wanted to feel freer than that so opted for a fabulous red beach buggy meaning we could also adventure off road onto smaller tracks that lead to deserted beach coves and the like!

It was more expensive than a car hire but was well worth the extra! It felt a more authentic way to be out and about in the glorious hot weather, feeling more in touch with the gorgeous landscape, stunning crystal clear waters and island life in general … we highly recommended it!

We lucked out too on our accommodation through Airbnb and totally loved our stay in the beautiful apartments of 9 Muses which were lovely traditional buildings designed and built by the owners (who live on site and were wonderful) around gorgeous landscaped gardens! A very peaceful place to rest, away from the hustle & bustle, but super close to everything at the same time, perfect!

As with all of the Greek islands the cacti and stunning blossoms abound everywhere and are such a delight! The little white villages with their winding criss cross of narrow lanes we will never tire of … full of boutique shops, cute places to take shade, eat & drink … and Paros is no exception!

Another Greek island staple are the bijou white chapels that are dotted about the towns but you may also randomly come across one on the road side, in a field, up a hill! They are always so beautiful and quaint, sometimes with painted domes – the most common colour being blue! Paros again was typical in this regard and the chapel at the beach that we found was by far our favourite on the island! What a setting it has – sitting pretty on a bit of land that juts out into the surrounding turquoise waters that perfectly match its dome!

Paros is small but full of joy, lovely people, stunning views, amazing waters, picturesque places, clean beaches, an abundance of good eateries to name but a few reasons why you should add it to your list of ‘must see places’ ! We’ve been to many Greek islands which actually are all different – even if they share many common factors as mentioned above – but Paros, for us, is up there with the best of them and for now, at least, it isn’t as crowded and/or as commercial as say Santorini!

We will be going back soon … and hopefully we have inspired you enough to make a visit too!
