Beautiful, characterful Ortigia is to be found on the south east coast of stunning Sicily, Italy! It is a small walkable island connected to the large city of Syracuse by a couple of small bridges over a narrow channel!

It’s a wonderful place to wander around getting lost in the narrow cobbled streets with no end of wonderful architecture! Street markets selling local produce are found around the piazzas most days … along with no end of gorgeous boutique shops, cafes and family run eateries shoe horned into every lane, nook & cranny!

Delicious fresh sea food restaurants line the water front too with gorgeous views out along the coast! And nothing can prepare you for the stunning main piazza with it’s pristine and imposing Cathedral which is truly something to behold! With something beautiful to discover around every corner you would be hard pushed to ever tire of this very atmospheric and wonderful place … we will be back to explore some more!
