Modica is a little gem of a place set high up on a hill in the south east of Sicily. Known for its gorgeous Baroque architecture, views and chocolate we can safely say it did not disappoint on any of those things!
Our top tip is to jump on one of the many tourist train buses that will quickly and easily get you up to the top of the hill for just a few Euros! You can then wander back down at your leisure, through the narrow, winding streets where you can stop at the viewing points and taking in the stunning vistas!
As ever there are plenty of lovely eateries to stop at en route too most of which will be happy to give you a taster of the much lorded chocolate that is proudly produced locally! There are lots of flavoured options – coffee, chilli, almond, etc – but you can’t beat just pure milk chocolate which was creamy and delicious!
As ever we just recommend that you go, get lost, explore and experience this wonderful place … we might be biased because we are huge fans of Italy but you just can’t go wrong wherever you go here as every village, town and city has something special about them!
