Marzamemi is a small coastal town in the south of Sicily and if you are going any where near it – it’s a must see! Such a picturesque and beautiful place to pass a couple of hours wandering, sitting, relaxing and of course eating!
Sumptuously colourful too … although weathered by the sea salt in the air it is really picture perfect all the same! And with the sound of rolling waves lapping right up in to the town – literally in some places with tables for lunch in danger of being swept away – you can’t help but smile and enjoy the wonderful atmosphere and views!
Marmazemi is a very old village with a lovely open and expansive main square where the buildings are all low, one storey, old fisherman’s cottages! Many of which are now great restaurants and cafes! To be honest it would be hard to find a more delightful place to sit and watch the world go by! Obviously the principle item on the menus here is the freshest of fish which you can enjoy in the square and/or at the many waterfront restaurants too!
This place really is a quintessential Sicilian village unspoilt, authentic, calm and inviting which makes it a place we will definitely return to when in Sicily … as it’s charm and beauty has captivated us!
