Lordington LavenderΒ can be found near Chichester in southern England, UK. It is only open for one week a year (dates are released at the begin of each year on their website) when the lavender is at its absolute best and we couldn’t have been happier, to be home from travelling and near by over this period of time!
The actual area of lavender can not be seen from the main road or during the approach to the farm … even when parked up in the designated field still no purple on the horizon! All very mysterious and so exciting to follow the path and catch a first glimpse of the gorgeous lavender beyond!
Once you have paid the Β£6 entrance fee and after a further short walk along and up a slight incline the wonderful clean rows of lavender appear! A pure delight – even from a distance!
On a warm day, such as the one we luckily visited on, the sweet scent hangs in the air and hundreds of bees are busy at work in and out of the lavender – but no need to fret as they do not bother you if you wander amongst them up and down the rows of neat heavenly buds!
And after all the excitement and only when you feel you have had the full lavender field experience do you notice that it isn’t quite time to leave just yet! There is tea, lavender cake and lavender ice cream to enjoy whilst sitting on a hay bale taking in, not only the lavender again, but also the stunning surrounding countryside!
We couldn’t recommend a more beautiful way to spend a sunny Summer’s day!
