Burj Khalifa – world’s tallest building review!

The beautiful Burj Khalifa in Dubai is an unmissable landmark that can be seen from far and wide! Obviously it is not for the faint hearted or anyone who suffers from vertigo! But if you are going to visit the tallest building in the world then it is worth paying a bit extra to go up as high as you possibly can! You might not think there is much difference from the most commonly bought ticket which is for ‘At the Top’ getting you to Level 124 … but treating yourself to a ticket for ‘At the Top SKY‘ gets you all the way up to Level 154 in a small group which was amazing and a completely different experience to the lower floors!

Firstly you are lead away from the queues to sit comfortably in a lovely air conditioned lounge where a traditional hot tea is served. Once the small group of around 20 people are ready you take private lifts all the way up to Level 154. The viewing lounge up there has floor to ceiling glass and the setting is spectacular! You are served canapes, sweet treats and soft drinks which were very nice but we hardly remember having any as we were totally distracted by the incredible vista! To feel as if you are in a plane, looking down, is no exaggeration as it is not uncommon to see helicopters and small private jets flying below you ?! The best bit is that you can get outside too for 360 degree never ending views and with so few people in this large area it felt as if we were having a private visit! We didn’t realise it at the time but have since heard that we were super lucky to have had such a clear, crisp day – it was wonderful up there!

The Burj Khalifa is an extraordinary building both inside and out! There is the world famous shopping mall which is luxury personified and a place where time stands still as you lose yourself window shopping or actually shopping if you have the budget! Outside’s centrepiece is the lagoon surrounded by bars and restaurants and well worth a visit. You can watch the famous (Las Vegas-esque) water fountain show set to music, every hour, which is always great fun! And if you do stay on and sit out for drinks or dinner, as night falls, you’ll be in for another treat as the Burj Khalifa becomes a light show all of its own which is so cleverly done and again set to music!

However you choose to spend your time in or around this jaw dropping feat of engineering you won’t be disappointed! We have visited a couple of times now but have still not managed to see all that it has to offer … the perfect excuse to go again we think … working on it!
