We are so very lucky to live by the sea … whatever the weather it is always inspiring and beautiful! At the moment we are living on the West Sussex coast UK which is full of long promenades, wonderful architecture, lots of history along with incredible sunsets and amazing miles of sand at low tide!
And with all of those interesting elements on our doorstep that leads us neatly into Reason 1 as you just have to embrace the outdoors, get out there and enjoy it … be it walking, cycling or swimming along the shoreline we have definitely become more active since we moved here a couple of months ago! Making Reason 2 the natural follow on as in a short space of time it has meant that we feel fitter, healthier and happier with no effort at all – you just can’t stay in when there’s so much to enjoy and benefit from the outdoors! And it’s free!
And when you are out on the promenade Reason 3 comes into play as the air seems cleaner, fresher, more satisfying somehow – we can breathe! There is an openness here which is calm, tranquil with a real feeling of freedom! It’s so very simple but totally exhilarating too!
On a similar note Reason 4 is the strong sense of being at one with nature – the wind, the sea, the tide, the weather, the gulls – all out of our control which leaves us in awe of nature’s strength and beauty! The sound of rolling waves we are convinced has helped us to sleep more soundly along with all the fresh air and our newly found fitness – long may it continue!
Our love and wonder of nature spills over into Reason 5 too as the properties of magical salt water are lorded here as our skin, hair and nails have never looked healthier! Swimming in the sea in the UK is not for the faint hearted … we have to admit we prefer warmer climes and higher temperatures of ocean … but even the salt in the air around here can do you good! And it has to be mentioned that we can get fresh fish everyday as the friendly local fishermen sell their wares on the pebble beach each morning – nothing better than that barbecued for lunch or dinner! We rest our case!
Live in the sunshine … swim in the sea … drink the wild air. (Emerson)
